Art of Reflection. January 2025.
I have pondered on this for a while, and my perception is that we live in binary states.
One is guided by action, the other by evaluating those actions. Theories in both quantum physics and mysticism highlight the non-linearity of time, suggesting there is no past or future—only the present. Yet, I believe that when we engage in reflection, we remain present, much like tapping one's hand on a lap, albeit not in the same physical form.
Reflection is a teacher. It is the delicate blend between theoretical and experiential knowledge. An individual who possesses too much of one without the other remains incomplete. The art of reflection lies in conjoining these disparate forms of understanding. There is a wealth of knowledge within us, and reflection is the moment we turn inward to explore it.
"He pondered about his sensation, which filled him completely, as he was slowly walking along. He pondered deeply, like diving into deep water he let himself sink down to the ground of the sensation, down to the place where the causes lie, because to identify the causes, so it seemed to him, is the very essence of thinking, and by this alone sensations turn into realizations and are not lost, but become entities and start to emit like rays of light what is inside of them." - Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
